Personal Injury Psychologist NSW, Workers Compensation & CTP
SIRA-approved psychological treatment for injured workers and people recovering from motor vehicle accidents, delivered by telehealth across New South Wales.
If you are here, it may be because
People usually find their way to this practice at a difficult point in their recovery. You might recognise yourself in one of these:
You were injured at work and feel overwhelmed by the injury, the symptoms, and the claim process on top of it.
You have felt anxious, on edge, or unsettled since the accident, whether or not the physical injuries were serious.
The pain, trauma, or uncertainty about your recovery is affecting your sleep, your mood, and your day-to-day life.
You want a psychologist who already understands the Workers Compensation and CTP systems, so you do not have to explain how it all works.
If any of that feels familiar, you are in the right place. The sections below explain how treatment works and how to get started.
A personal injury psychology practice for NSW
Revamp Psychology is a NSW-wide telehealth psychology practice focused on personal injury recovery. The practice supports injured workers, people recovering from motor vehicle accidents, and clients experiencing psychological symptoms after injury, including anxiety, trauma symptoms, low mood, chronic pain-related distress and adjustment difficulties.
Treatment is provided within the NSW Workers Compensation (WorkCover) and CTP schemes. Services are delivered by telehealth right across NSW, including regional and rural areas, with in-person appointments in Strathfield available where suitable.
The practice is led by Matt Semsar, a Registered Psychologist (AHPRA: PSY0002620326) and SIRA-approved provider (No. 24705). His background includes both psychological treatment and roles within injury management and personal injury claims, contributing to a practical understanding of the system injured people are navigating.

Psychological treatment after injury
Revamp Psychology supports two main groups of people, with equal focus on each:
Psychological treatment for injured workers experiencing anxiety, low mood, trauma symptoms, adjustment difficulties, chronic pain-related distress or stress related to a workplace injury or claim. For anyone injured at work and looking for a psychologist who understands the system.
Psychological treatment for people recovering from car accidents and motor vehicle accidents, including trauma symptoms, driving anxiety, travel anxiety, sleep disturbance, low mood and pain-related distress.
Supporting treatment areas include trauma-focused therapy and EMDR, pain management psychology, tinnitus-related distress, and adjustment after injury.
Who this service is for
This service may be appropriate for people with an active Workers Compensation or CTP claim who are experiencing:
Psychological distress following a physical workplace injury or psychological injury, including anxiety, depression, low mood, trauma symptoms, and adjustment difficulties.
Psychological symptoms following a motor vehicle accident, including post-traumatic stress, travel anxiety, depression, reduced confidence, sleep disturbance, adjustment difficulties, and disruption to usual activities.
Psychological effects of ongoing pain, including fear-avoidance, reduced activity, frustration, low mood, and difficulty adjusting to changes in function.
Difficulties arising during extended recovery, including uncertainty, loss of routine, reduced work identity, and increased stress associated with the claims process.
Psychological factors affecting confidence, daily functioning and engagement in usual activities, including avoidance, reduced confidence, cognitive strain, and distress linked to the workplace or accident.
Tinnitus-related distress after workplace noise exposure or injury, particularly where symptoms are affecting concentration, sleep, or emotional wellbeing.
Psychological treatment within WorkCover and CTP claims
Psychological treatment is often provided where a physical injury has led to secondary psychological effects, or where recovery has been prolonged or complicated by pain, trauma, or functional disruption.
Treatment is tailored to the individual’s presentation and stage of recovery. Depending on clinical needs, this may include addressing trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression and low mood, adjustment difficulties, pain-related distress, sleep disruption, reduced confidence, and broader recovery, daily functioning and confidence as the person moves through the recovery process.
Where appropriate, communication may occur with the broader treating team, including the GP, rehabilitation provider, insurer, or other professionals involved in recovery.
You can read more about psychological treatment for injured workers on the WorkCover page, or, if you are recovering from a motor vehicle accident, the dedicated CTP psychologist page.
How treatment under WorkCover or CTP usually works
A referral is provided by your treating doctor, along with the relevant documentation required under the Workers Compensation or CTP scheme.
Treatment is typically funded once approved by the insurer. Where approval is in place, there are generally no out-of-pocket costs.
Once approval is confirmed, an appointment can be arranged via telehealth anywhere in NSW.
Treatment is provided in a structured, evidence-based manner, with progress reviewed and documented as required within the scheme.
Under both Workers Compensation and CTP in NSW, individuals generally have the right to choose their own treatment provider.
Clinical focus
Treatment is evidence-based and adapted to the individual’s injury, symptoms, and recovery context. Approaches may include cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, EMDR, and pain management strategies.
Areas of focus include anxiety, depression, and adjustment difficulties following injury; psychological treatment following workplace injury and motor vehicle accidents; pain management and adjustment to persistent pain; trauma-focused therapy and EMDR; recovery and confidence after injury; and tinnitus-related distress.
Fees & funding
Where treatment has been approved under Workers Compensation or CTP, sessions are funded through the relevant scheme.
If you are unsure about approval status, this can usually be clarified prior to booking.
